How DEWA move-in works after Ejari
For a standard Dubai tenancy with Ejari, DEWA receives the tenancy data and sends the new account, deposit details and payment link.
The normal tenant journey
- Complete Ejari and make sure your mobile number and email are correct.
- Watch for DEWA’s welcome SMS or email with the contract account and payment link.
- Pay the refundable security deposit and applicable connection charges through an official DEWA channel.
- Keep the receipt and tracking reference until supply is active.
Current residential amounts
DEWA’s official move-in page lists a refundable security deposit of AED 2,000 for a flat and AED 4,000 for a villa. For a standard small meter, it lists AED 125 connection, AED 10 registration, AED 10 knowledge fee and AED 10 innovation fee—AED 155 in activation charges. Confirm the live amount before paying.
How long should activation take?
DEWA states that electricity and water are connected within 15 working hours after payment of the security deposit and connection fees. If activation does not occur within that period, its service page directs customers to the Customer Care Centre. Owners and certain free-zone cases apply through DEWA’s digital channels rather than relying on the Ejari integration.
Do not pay a landlord or agent for “DEWA activation” unless the amount and recipient match the official process and you receive proper proof.
