How to close DEWA and get the final bill

Submit a formal move-out request for the correct premises and date. Simply leaving the property does not close the utility account.

Prepare first

Have the DEWA contract account or premises details, your identity record, move-out date and refund information ready. Confirm the exact handover date with the landlord so the account is not closed too early or left running after you depart.

Move-out sequence

  1. Sign in through DEWA’s official website or app and select Deactivation of Electricity/Water (Move-out).
  2. Choose the correct contract account and requested disconnection date.
  3. Review the contact and refund details carefully before confirming.
  4. Save the request number and confirmation.
  5. After disconnection, pay any amount due on the final bill or follow DEWA’s process for the remaining security deposit.
  6. Keep the final bill for your landlord, Ejari file and deposit settlement.

Do not mix up three different items

The move-out request tells DEWA to stop supply under your account. The final bill closes consumption and other outstanding charges. The security-deposit settlement deals with money DEWA holds. One confirmation may not prove that all three are complete.

If your plans change

Do not submit duplicate requests. Use the official tracking or support channel with the first reference. If ownership, tenancy or premises details do not match, resolve that discrepancy before relying on a requested date.

Photograph the meter area and retain your handover record. DEWA’s official reading remains decisive, but a dated record can help explain a later query.
