How to Renew Vehicle Registration in Dubai

Check the three blockers
RTA verifies valid motor insurance and, when required, a passed technical inspection. It also requires outstanding traffic fines to be cleared. Check all three before opening the payment screen, especially if the vehicle is older or its registration has already expired.
Renew through RTA
Open RTA’s Renew and Amend Vehicle Data Ownership service, identify the vehicle, let the system verify insurance and inspection, then review and pay the displayed charges. The ownership certificate can be provided digitally, through a self-service machine or by an available delivery option.
Timing matters
The official service card says vehicle ownership is normally valid for 12 months and describes a 30-day renewal grace period. It also warns that a traffic file can be blocked if renewal remains overdue. Treat the grace period as time to complete renewal, not permission to drive uninsured or ignore inspection.
Keep proof together
Save the inspection result, insurance schedule, payment receipt and new ownership certificate. Confirm that plate details, chassis information and expiry date are correct. If you change the plate or ownership data, use the appropriate option within the service rather than a standard renewal.
