How to file a useful consumer complaint in Dubai
Give the trader one clear chance to resolve the issue, then submit a short evidence-backed complaint to the correct authority.
Build the evidence file
- Invoice, order confirmation or payment proof
- Advertisement, written quotation or stated warranty
- Photos or video of the problem
- Messages showing what you asked the merchant to do
- The business’s legal or trade name and contact details
- A simple timeline with dates and amounts
Write the complaint around one remedy
State what was bought, what was promised, what went wrong and the remedy you requested. “Refund AED X”, “complete the paid service” or “repair under the written warranty” is clearer than a long account with no requested outcome.
Submit carefully
- Check that Dubai Consumer Rights is the right regulator for the trader and transaction.
- Open the official complaint service and review its current eligibility and document requirements.
- Enter the merchant details exactly as shown on the invoice or licence record.
- Upload legible, relevant evidence rather than a large unsorted chat export.
- Save the complaint reference and respond through the official channel.
Use the specialist regulator where needed
Banking and insurance complaints, telecom matters, property disputes and regulated professional services may belong with a different body. If the consumer service redirects you, note the reason and use the named authority rather than filing the same case everywhere.
Do not threaten, exaggerate or publish personal accusations. A calm timeline and verifiable documents make the complaint easier to assess.
